His Grace Archbishop AJV Obinna, Metropolitan Archbishop of Owerri
Brief on the Catholic Archdioces of Owerri

The Catholic Church arrived Owerri in 1912 through Fr. Feral and Bro. Joseph. In 1937, the first indigenous priest of Owerri, Msgr. Joseph Nwanegbo of Ubomiri was ordained. In 1948, Owerri became a separate Vicariate from Onitsha and two years after in 1950, she became a diocese with Most Rev. Joseph B. Whelan, CSSp of blessed memory as its first Bishop. With the expulsion of the expatriate missionaries at the end of the civil war by the Nigerian Government, Bishop Whelan appointed Msgr.Ignatius Okoroanyanwu the Vicar General and Administrator of the Diocese to look after the vacant See of Owerri from January till September 1970 when Bishop Mark O. Unegbu was appointed by Pope Paul VI to succeed him. More

Pope to release his debut album in time for Christmas
His Holiness Pope Benedict xvi

The global banking crisis proves the love of money is futile, the Pope has said. 'With the collapse of big banks, we see that money disappears, is nothing and all these things that appear real are in fact of secondary importance', said Benedict XVI. The only solid reality ' was the word of God, he added.
An album featuring the voice of Post Benedict XVI may be released by 30 November 2009. "He will be heard speaking and singing in Latin, Italian, Portuguese, French and German. Geffen UK/Universal says it is the first time the Pope will be heard on an album. With the blend of Lauretan Litanies and Marian popular chants", it could even be a contender for Christmas No.1
